It’s been so long that I didn’t write anything in this blog. Well, the reason for that is Laziness. Yes, that is the main reason and apart from that there are some other reasons. One of them is I was thought less for few days. I wanted some break, and see what I am writing in my blog and weather it is good or not. Till now I never find the solution. I am not very clear about what to write in blog. If I write my daily dairy many of my friends said that it is useless. They may be true becoz, there is nothing to do with my blah blah. However, sometimes I feel that whatever I am writing is also useless since everyone knows it..! Does it mean writing something in my mind is either use less or worth less? So, what is the best solution..? Just quit the blog and say nothing…! Or else wait for some good thought and write then. You know, all these thoughts were on top of my head. Any way one thought is spinning my mind from several days, and I wanna share that with you. I am not sure it is interesting and I don’t think it is something new which I discovered.
Before telling my Blah Blah, Let me ask you guys a question..! “May I know Your Ambition or do you know what your aim is? Do we have any idea about our Target? Do we really have any hobby? Did we ever think of how to celebrate the holidays…?” For all of these questions many of us don’t have a proper answer..! Am I right? I always asked these questions to myself, but I never got the answer. I don’t know what my ambition is? I have no proper idea about my aim or Target. I don’t even have a good hobby. If I find some holiday, either I sleep or I watch movies. I don’t do any specific things on weekends. Only thing will be in my mind on a holiday is to wash my clothes and Iron them. Rest of the day watch some movie or do some non-sense. I believe there are so many people like me…! Am I wrong to assume this?
Well, I may not be wrong to assume that fact. If you are like me, ask yourself why we are like this? If you get any answer please let me know. I analyzed these questions. I came up with my idea. I’ll share with you. Correct me if it is a wrong Idea.
If we ask any one (even ask ourselves) “What is your Ambition?” Some people say they want to be a Collector or they want to be an Engineer, or they want to be a doctor, but the truth is, he or She (Ourselves) just wants to earn some money and get some value and some level in the society. We don’t really know our Ambition, even if we know we don’t dare for it sometime. Let me give you some example, “If my ambition is to become a software Engineer, I’ll go and study Computer Science Engineering or Information Technology in our under graduation. However I’ll look at the situation around the globe, hey man Software Industry is very bad. There are so many ups and downs in it. Many IT Professionals are getting fired from their jobs. So, I won’t dare to study CSE in Bachelor’s. I’ll go study something like ECE or EEE. I know it is not my interested field but still I’ll go and study it. “
You know why I am doing this…? Just because of money. We are leaving our Ambition somewhere and trying our luck in some other field for which there is demand and for which we get money. I never had some ambition in my life. I never dreamed about my ambition. I dreamed like I had a big Bungalow, and big Car and some value in the Society. May be this is my ambition. I don’t know. I never really had a meaning for ambition in my dictionary. I don’t know what I want to be.
Without my notice I am here in this position. Still Confused about the future..! I’ve completed my 10th Standard and I don’t know what I really want to study in Intermediate. I know I am an average student and I am scared of Mathematics, I always struggled with Science. I am strong only with Social Studies. History was always interesting to me in Social Studies and also Economics I wanted to know about it. You know what, I didn’t know what MPC (Intermediate Subjects) is. May be I was forced or I didn’t dared to tell my father about my interest. I know if I tell my father about my interest he will never agree, because we don’t know the life of a Historian or an Economist. I know how much I struggled in my initial days of Intermediate studying MPC. Thanks to one of my friends Sravan, who helped me to think like a mathematician…! However, I am still poor in Physics and Chemistry. I got excellent marks in Physics and Chemistry though. Once again at the end of my intermediate, big question mark in my mind. What Next?
After MPC Intermediate 90% of people forward their step to Engineering, without even knowing about it. Till Intermediate I used to think an Engineer is one who builds bridges between the roads. I don’t know that there are so many fields are there in Engineering. Confusion again, what field should I choose? I know nothing about any field. At that period of time, Software Industry was in very bad condition. So, no one was daring to go for CSE or IT. My father was same like all. He preferred EEE. Hence I joined in EEE without knowing what an Electrical Engineer does. As a poor Science guy, I started my under graduation. I struggled a lot in Engineering. Till now I never really understood the concepts of Electricity. However I completed my Engineering with First Class. OK…I completed my UG and what next? Everyone searching for jobs, so did I. Till then, Software Industry was in good condition hence, everyone trying their luck in IT, so did I. Luck was not with me I never got the job in India. I saw some of my friends planning for abroad for their further studies, so did I. Luckily, I got this one and Came to USA for my Masters.
How can a poor Electrical guy can complete his masters in EEE? That’s what happened to me, my grades were very bad in Electrical and they suspended me from Electrical Program. Just to maintain status in USA, I took another worse step to transfer to some other university in completely new field, Software Engineering. Ahh..! Come on stop it, how can a non-computer science guy survive in Software Engineering field? You know what, I did it. Thanks to the university (I don’t wanna mention that University Name Here) gave me good grades and handled a degree in Software Engineering. Confusion started again. Any way completed my 18 years of education, and what next? I am neither interested in continuing the studies nor forced to continue the studies further. So, what should I do now…?
Everyone who completed their masters is trying their luck in Software Industry irrespective of their specialization. You know once again, I followed the same thing. I tried as software professional. Yes, I am software professional now, without knowing a SDLC. I am working as Software Analyst without knowing anything. I am just checking my luck in every project.
If I go back and see, where I started and where I am now. Is this the field I am going to continue or will I switch to something else? I don’t know. I am with the same Confusion which I had it 10 years back and I am sure I am always confused till next 10 years. You know what happens next, I will get used to it. Very funny right..!
I know this is what happening with many of us. Does it have any solution? Can we ever live for ourselves? I am of 24 yrs kid; answer “I don’t know” for the question “What your ambition is?” This is what I am doing from last 10 years. Funniest thing is, people used to laugh if I say I don’t know as if they know their ambition. If someone ask me What is my ambition as of now, I’ll say I got to pay my Bank loan. That is the only ambition I have. Pay the Bank loan and Clear the Credit Card debts by any means.
What do I do on a weekend or on free time? Nothing..! I am sure there are so many people like me. We always say “Ahh…it’s boring”. If we have some hobby we never feel boring.
Let me tell you one more story…!
My Team lead is of 50 years age. He has grandsons too. You know what he does in free time? He’ll do Carpentry…! Ya…you read it right. He does. He makes his own bed. He makes cradle to his grandson. He’ll make some interesting gifts for his wife and his sons on their birthdays with carpentry. Why he is taking that much risk in his 50 yrs age. That is his hobby. Some of our team members do Gardening in their free time. They never said that they were bored. I said 10 times every day “it’s boring”.
You know why many of our friends struggle in their education, because they don’t like it. That is the reason many of us get failed in many subjects. Our interest is something, but we deviate to some other direction and forced to adopt the new conditions which we never like.
I saw some of my friends who know their ambition unlike me, but their situation doesn’t support them to be what they wanted. I saw some of my friends want to be a singer, some wanted to be a photographer, and some wants to be a director, some wants to be a politician, some wants to be a movie actor. However, our parents or the society or their mind or some other problem may be stopping them. Encourage those kinds of people…, don’t discourage them.
Anyway, people like me will never change. At least let us encourage some of the people unlike us and try our children will not become like us.

When will be India a devoloped Nation?
From my child hood knowledge, I believe that Indus Valley Civilization and Harappa Mohenjo-Daro civilizations are one of the oldest civilizations on this earth. It means we Indians know a culture nothing but Civilization long back. (I hope I don’t need to remind you people that Indus Valley Civilizations was some time around 3500 BC). Before Vasco De Gama Discovered India some time in 1490 AD, so many Europeans as well as so many others like Aryas, Dravidas Discovered India. We all know Alexander the Great Invaded of course lost in India in some time around 330 BC. So we Indians were well civilized people just like so many countries long back.
Every one knows that we Indians are much talented than all other people across the world. Most of the people believe that Arya bhatta from India discovered (may be invented) Zero some where between 475 AD and 550AD, without witch we can’t even imagine this world.
(Though there are so many controversies about zero Invention (may be discover), we Indians believe that Arya Bhatta is the first one to Invent or discover the Zero. Some People believe that Babylonian is the first one to use the zero before Arya Bhatta. But Babylonian just used the Zero Concept, he don’t know How exactly a zero looks like. Arya Bhatta is the first one to use zero =0 in his calculations.)
Historians Believe that value of g=9.8 (forgive me if it is wrong) was invented by Indians before Sir Newton. We don’t know who exactly invented all these things, but we can conclude that Indians has the major role in this worlds Existence.
We have many more talented people from long back and it continues till now.
My question is why we Indians are still backward, still undeveloped, still developing country while we have pretty much talent with us?
We know civilization long back, we know mathematics from centuries, we know Politics years ago (We say “Chanakya Neethi”) still we are not in a position to compete with many of developed nations.
Where we are lagging behind, what is going wrong, what went wrong…?
From many years this question was keep running in my mind just like every Indian. Why we Indians are not in Commanding Position? Why our people are still hunting in different countries for Job? Why our software professionals are job less if recession is in America? Why our Indian Currency goes down if American Market is good? Why Brittan Pound has that value in India? Why we people took 200 years to get rid of bloody English men? Why we are not developed even after 60+ years after Independence? Why Japan is that dominant, and courageous to attack Pearl Harbor though it is 10% of India? Why we still follow someone’s rulez?
I remember a word from my child hood “Industrial Revolution”. I didn’t understand what that was in my child hood, but soon after I grew older I came to know what that was. This was the revolution took long time to come India, and I believe is the backwardness of India. If we invented something like Telephone, Telegraph, or Air Plane India would have been the developed nation.
We know Agriculture, but don’t know modern techniques. We people still won’t follow modern techniques to improve the result of Agriculture. We know all the things, but we know all in Conventional ways. We never got updated with technology; we never tried to change the things. This is the main point we are lagging behind many of developed nations.
We people don’t like to experiment the new things rather we would like to follow the old conventional way. We don’t like to take risks, we are afraid of taking them. We are afraid of the result, hence the result is. So, I blame our Indian brains which stick to conventional ways. Though we have few people to take risks, many hands are there to stop them. Our mentality is, we don’t do some thing and we never allow some one to do that. If this is the case continues, India will always be a developing Nation.
One more thing I believe for delayed Industrial Revolution in India is because of the British Rule and Because of KING Ruling. Before British coming to India, we used to have so many Kings within India, and every King calls his particular reign as a nation. Every King has his own rules, and our Kings were never united. At the same time they were not aware of this technology, hence the people of those reigns are not aware of any of these things. When we don’t know about the bicycles, British came to India with Cars. See the difference, if our Kings were united, and if they don’t have any quarrels between them they would have been thought of this technology, but they were always interested in occupying other Kingdom, ruling whole India. Thanks to British, though they looted every thing from us, they showed us Transportation system, Communication System, Modern Technology etc... Only bad with them was they got every thing from India, left us without any thing. If we don’t have British come to India, imagine still we were ruled by some King XYZ 12…I think every one aware of the fact that Nizam was ruled Hyderabad even in 1940.
Therefore I believe major two things for making India undeveloped is our coward mentality, and our Use less kings. Third one is our innocence for feeding British for 200 years and our laziness we never really tried hard to get developed. America was also a ruled by Europeans, but they got independence very quickly and developed as if there was nothing happened.
After we got Independence in 1947, we had the opportunity to grow up, but once again our dirty minds stopping to rise high. I think we didn’t even extended the Rail ways left by British, we are still stick with those lines (may be we added very few new lines). It has been 60+ years we got Independence still many of our villages don’t have proper road ways and don’t have proper way of transportation. It has been 60+ years British left us, still we use the old conventional way of Agriculture; we use bullock carts and plough for Agriculture. We don’t even try to use new thing in our land, if my neighbor got profit with Cotton every one of my village goes for cotton. If some XYZ got good profit with Rice every one follows him. We guys never use our brain. Our Education system, it is still teaching 1991 Population Count. Our mentality in education is also not changes, if software gets down no one dare to take CSE in B.Tech. If it is going good out there, we don’t hesitate to buy a seat for 1 lakh. If my relative or my friend or my neighbor goes to America, Every one goes to America. British taught us Telegraph, and Land line phone system we stick to those things till 1990s. At this time Internet was very much used by other countries. Fax came into picture in some time 1990s. I believe still many of our people don’t know what an Internet is?
We never dare to do new things; same thing applies in every field of our India. Even in our Indian movies one movie with some triangular love story hits, min 10 of those kind come back to back. If we take sports, Cricket is the only game we people are playing in these days; no one tries to play Hockey, Tennis etc...That is the reason we will get 1 or none Medal in Olympics. Many of us in future forget that Hockey is our National Game and Kabaddi is AP’s State Game.
I know from my social teacher Nagaraju (Thanks to the great man, who taught me all this) that once India got freedom, there was no one dared to invest in Market. The first one to come was Tata and Birla. They dared to invest and we know how big they are now. If they took their leg back in those days, we can’t see this much progress even. We never dare to invest in some thing new as we follow the old conventional ways. I remember a small quote in Telugu “PATA CHINTAKAYA PACCHADI RUCHI” (Old Tamarind pickle is tasty), we follow this line in our lives. This is not true, we should come out of it as early as possible else our grand children will study in their books “India is a developing Country”.
One bigger draw back is we are selfishness. We say in words that we love India so much, but we never show this in our actions, rather we show we love our selves than India. This selfishness making our politicians corrupt. This selfishness making us to stay backwards.
Government of India issues funds for transportation system of public, but the concerned politician, Contractors will fill their pockets with that money as they are selfish, not worried about Indian progress, but worried about their family, his status etc… A police officer never takes action unless offered some bribe, because he don’t mind crime in India, he is just worried about his pocket. Our Traffic Police never worries about Traffic but worries about money. Our Government Officials worries about their families and some unnecessary activities like girls etc... Results comes to office at 11.00 AM and leaves the office 3.00PM including a 1 hour lunch break and 3 tea breaks. We always worry about our near and dears get the jobs even if they are not eligible for that. If some eligible candidate gets placed instead of not qualified our relative it will be much helpful to the company production, which results Country growth, but we don’t mind it since we are selfish. We have plenty of Software Engineers across the world working for different clients. Assume if India has good investors we don’t need to go to USA for a software job and sit on the bench till our bank balance goes to zero and our default APR for credit cards go to 29.99%. In America every single non-sense there is some web site, but in India we couldn’t even have web site for some important thing. We don’t need a database back up because we will never refund some thing and we will never re check any bill. Our banks don’t have a website (These days they are developing). If we don’t have a banks like ICICI, HDFC,and HSBC I don’t know when we would have been know about online banking system. Our Banks are scared to give Credit Cards and afraid to sanction loans.
We never research some new thing, though we have project works in our curriculum, we never did project on some thing new. We always copy some thing. Scientists are like fools in some body’s point of view. Our Government doesn’t encourage us even if we have some real desire inside. With all these conditions it is day dreaming to think we will reach America.
If we leave selfishness, and if we dare to Invest and if we dare to do new things for sure, we are Leaders. At that point of time we don’t need to learn English, many English speaking nations will learn Hindi, Indians don’t get humiliated in USA or UK, Lot of immigrants come to India and our dolor rate will become 44 times to American dolor value.
Though India is developing a little bit in these days, there is lot more we got to develop. The rate we are developing is not in compatible with the rate other nations are developing and the development is only limited to few cities. Lot more work we got to do. May be this youth power of India make some difference.

Bitter Experience with American Transportation System.
Imagine, we are moving to new state in India for a job and let’s say Our work place is about 30 miles away from our hotel or room etc… also assume we don’t have our own bike or car etc… How we go to office daily in India?
Yes, Absolutely…! We may take Bus, Train or Auto (Taxi)…!
How long it will take us to travel for 30 miles in a Bus, Train or Auto?
May be 30Min Minimum…! And Hardly in Bad Traffic scenario, will it take 1 Hour Max, Right…? In certain locations like Hyderabad, Mumbai…it may take much more time (may be 90 Min). On a given day if there is no Traffic Jams, we can go to office in 30 min whatever the means of transportation is…!
Now, Let me tell you How ‘Great American’ Transportation Killed me.
I had to leave to Pittsburgh, PA (USA), two days back on a project. I got to stay there for 1 month minimum. Hence I was searching for a room near to the client location, but my search never found me a location near to client Place. I hardly found few apartments about 35 miles away from client location. I was happy that it was OK distance to travel daily. As I don’t have a car, I was in looking for some public transportation. Though, Pittsburgh is one of the good places in USA there are no trains available. Thank God, they had Local Buses available.
You may ask me at this point of time…, “Come on Dude, what is the reason you are blaming America…”
Well, the real story begins here…
They have buses available, but it takes TWO AND HALF HOURS (2 ½) to reach client location from the apartment where I planned to stay for a month.
For me, There are no issues to travel for 2 ½ hours UP and 2 ½ hours Down (Totally 5 hours Daily (to and fro)), If I don’t need to walk for 1 hour and no need to transfer the bus 3 times.

I need to change 3 Buses to travel 30 Miles, and walk for 1 hour to reach destination. If I miss any bus in this pipeline by any means, let me tell you I have no Alternative other than waiting for 1 more Hour, which causes Minimum of one Hour delay to Office. I cannot take a taxi, since they are much expensive. Meter of Taxis in certain locations runs on Time (Indian Autos and Few American Taxis Runs on Distance Meter). If we struck up in some traffic or if we have all red lights in our journey, Meter will keep ticks.
How Dangerous situation it is….? If we don’t have a Car in America, it is like Cutting your legs and asking you to walk without any kind of support.

I was in Mobile, AL for about 1 Year; I never found a train or bus. I can see the rail tracks, but I never saw a train in those trails. I found one local bus service, but that bus runs for every one hour and also only in certain locations.
If I want to go to a different city, which is about 10 miles away from Mobile I should definitely own a car or someone should drop me in their Car. Let’s say if I want to go to some other state from Alabama Only one option left, take a Flight. I don’t need to tell you how much a round trip costs. There is Grey Hound Bus service available for us, but before taking those buses forget about your destination. I don’t mean they are dangerous but I mean they are tortoise.
Let me tell you guys one more case….!
It is of my friends’ experience. He went to some small village nearer to Minneapolis I guess, but it is in Minnesota State.
He is staying there from last 2 months, till now he couldn’t find single taxi. Besides that he not even found an apartment to share with someone. If he wants to get some Grocery (Indian), he is hiring a car and traveling for almost 170 miles (One way). See how useless location is that.
This is the same story repeats in all over across America other than few locations like, New York, New Jersey, Boston, Washington DC (East Coast of America).

Well, best answer is “I don’t know”, but I heard a story from few of my friends. It may be a rumor, it may be true. Let me tell you the story…,
“About 100 years back or some, there was some trading between American Government and American Automobile Association. American Automobile Association Offered, billions of money to American Government for not arranging proper transportation system. Since, that is the only way people will definitely buy Cars for their transportation.”
Sometimes it seems true…!
This is not fair for a common man like me, but I am no one to fight for it, also I guess I don’t have that right. This is the first worst thing I found in America from first day of my stay here. I am not able to understand how Americans are passing their life with this kind of transportation system?
Seriously, I suggest America to think on it and plan something good. It is not at all fair for a leading and highly developed nation.
I don’t know about other countries but as far as India is concerned, we people have much better transportation system. Though our road ways are not good enough, our domestic flights are not up to standard, though our rail tracks are not strong enough, and though there are so many incidents with Auto (Taxi), we Are Leaders.
Heard that UK also have some good means of transportation system just as India, but I guess the standards may be well enough in UK.
I know all Indians living in America may have been faced the same problem I had. Don’t you…?

Yes, Absolutely…! We may take Bus, Train or Auto (Taxi)…!
How long it will take us to travel for 30 miles in a Bus, Train or Auto?
May be 30Min Minimum…! And Hardly in Bad Traffic scenario, will it take 1 Hour Max, Right…? In certain locations like Hyderabad, Mumbai…it may take much more time (may be 90 Min). On a given day if there is no Traffic Jams, we can go to office in 30 min whatever the means of transportation is…!
Now, Let me tell you How ‘Great American’ Transportation Killed me.
I had to leave to Pittsburgh, PA (USA), two days back on a project. I got to stay there for 1 month minimum. Hence I was searching for a room near to the client location, but my search never found me a location near to client Place. I hardly found few apartments about 35 miles away from client location. I was happy that it was OK distance to travel daily. As I don’t have a car, I was in looking for some public transportation. Though, Pittsburgh is one of the good places in USA there are no trains available. Thank God, they had Local Buses available.
You may ask me at this point of time…, “Come on Dude, what is the reason you are blaming America…”
Well, the real story begins here…
They have buses available, but it takes TWO AND HALF HOURS (2 ½) to reach client location from the apartment where I planned to stay for a month.

The Legend- King of the Kings Asoka
Yesterday my roomie, Kishore played a bollywood movie Asoka. Though I like King Asoka, I never showed some interest in watching this movie before. Yesterday for the first time I watch the movie and really thought that I was fool for not watching this movie long back. After the end of the movie many questions were going in my mind. Is it 100% true? If so, why some of our Indians are against to this movie? I thought there might be some creativity of our movie script writer. I googled about King Asoka. To my surprise I found lot of interesting things about him which I never know.
When I was in school, I learn something about King Asoka. I just remember 2 things about him. The most famous one is “King Asoka Planted the Trees” (Ashokudu Chetlu Natinchenu in Telugu). I hope every Indian knows this phrase. If we ask some one about King Asoka, everyone says the same thing “Asoka Planted the Trees”. One more thing may be all the students know about him is “he was so disgusted by the cruelty and horror of Kalinga war that he renounced it. He would have no more of it. He adopted the peaceful doctrines of Buddhism.”
But before watching the movie Asoka, I never really thought why King Asoka planted the trees? Why he was so disgusted by the Kalinga War?
People say that He planted the trees because he turned into good King. He stop conquering the world after the Kalinga War because, it was very ferocious. So many people died, and blood of the soldiers flood in rivers etc...Historians say that Kalinga war is one of the biggest wars on the earth. So it might be true. But in movie Asoka he justified it in some other way. That suits much apt to King Asoka’s Quit for wars. History says Asoka probably had 4 wives. One among them is Kaurawiki. Movie says that, Asoka conquered the world because he is no more interested in living after he misses Kaurawiki. But Historians says that King Asoka had the desire of conquer the world and enlarge his reign just like his grand father Chandra Gupta Mourya.
Our movie Director tried to show King Asoka as merciful and good from the beginning which is not true. Historians guess that King Asoka might kill his own brothers to become successor of Bindusara, father of King Asoka. But I was amazed with King Asoka’s reign. May be he was the first or one of the Kings who ruled whole India along with Afghan, Pakistan, Bangladesh and some parts of Iran. I learned many facts about Asoka the Great.
I am ashamed of myself for not knowing about The Great Monarch Asoka till yesterday. He is the King whom all Indians never forget. Though he was ruler of 270B.C. we still remember him. We Indians are proud to say that we had Great emperor like Asoka. I red about his strength and got surprised. According to legends he was able to kill a lion or tiger with the help of a wood-rod only. He was also able to beat a number of weapon bearing soldiers with empty hands. Asoka was known for his sword-fighting. According to a myth when he was with his sword no one was able to go in front of him. He was very adventurous and this made him terrible. According to many historians Asoka was not a delicate prince, he was physically very rude and strong (often terrible). According to a story he was able to kill even a war elephant with the help of a knife.
Even our Indian National flag has the King Asoka’s wheel impression. Most of Indian currency coins have the 4 lions logo which was of King Asoka. I also got shocked with King Asoka’s transformation into Great King Asoka from Chand Asoka. After the Kaling War he pursued an official policy of nonviolence, ahimsa. Even the unnecessary slaughter or mutilation of animals was immediately abolished. Wildlife became protected by the king's law against sport hunting and branding. Limited hunting was permitted for consumption reasons but Asoka also promoted the concept of vegetarianism. Asoka also showed mercy to those imprisoned, allowing them leave for the outside a day of the year.

Some thing about Travelling
Hi There,
Today, I am fed up with my work. I am feeling little drowsy. I don’t know the reason but I am not willing to work today. Therefore I wrote the previous blog entry. After publishing it, my mind started counting the number of states I’ve visited in U.S. As I said it has been 2 yrs for me to stay in America, till now I’ve visited more than 10 states. My mind started to count the number of states I’ve visited in India. To my surprise the count came to 3. Man..! I have born in India, brought up there, stay there for 22 years. But I just visited 3 states in India. I started thinking the reason behind it. I ask myself Does our Indians don’t like to travel? May be the answer is yes.
When I was at the age of 12, our school arranged an excursion. They are planning a trip across Andhra Pradesh. I was always interested to travel from my childhood. I went to my mom and told her about my school excursion proposal. She simply denied it. She said, she is not gonna allow me to go any excursion. I tried to explain her many things but nothing really worked. My dad didn’t said no but he failed just like me to convince my mom. After then, I never dared to ask my mom about this kind of trips. This is the similar situation happened in most of my friends. We were unable to go to any trip. The reason my mom told me for her denial is little convincing to me at that time. She said “Son, you are a kid, you don’t know any thing and I don’t know about your teachers, I don’t know how well they take care of you guys. Hence I’ll never allow you children to this kind of trips.” Instead of this trip, she promised me that she will plan some tour in future with our family. But those plans remained as plans till today.
So, I think the first reason behind not traveling is our parents fear. May be most of the parents stop their children till 10th standard. But my mom stopped me even in my engineering days. She always scared to send me near oceans, rivers...But she failed to stop me to visit Karnataka. Situation demanded me to visit Bangalore to write GRE. Situation demanded me to visit Mysore to attend Air Force exam. Situation demanded me to visit Chennai to attend US Consulate. So what I understood with these incidents is our parents allow us only when there is some thing really needed to travel.
One more thing I noticed is, most of our Indian children will get handful of money only at the age of 23 if he gets any job right after his/her graduation. May be the average age is 20 at which every Indian child have handful of money. Till 23 or till you get any job u r dependent on your parents. Hence we can not plan any trip outside our state, because it costs lot of money.
One more problem we had is lack of good transportation. It takes almost 12 hours to reach Bangalore from Hyderabad unless you take some flight. But most of the Indian middle class people can’t afford flight charges; they don’t even dare to imagine a flight for some tour. They always plan some train journey which is cheaper and much comfort compared with all other ways of transportation. Train is a good option, but its very time consuming. Hence we can not expect weekend trips or long weekend trips. If we really planned to visit neighbor state, we need minimum of 5 days holiday. But I don’t think we can have 5 days holiday unless you are not working somewhere. Even if we get 5 days holiday, we don’t find a good company to plan a trip. If you plan a trip for a week let me tell you, it will cost minimum of 10,000/- just for one state trip. We Indians don’t like to spend this huge amount of money for a week day trip. Even if they can afford it, their next trip will be in next year. We just like to save the money. We people think these kinds of trips are just waste of money.
So our people don’t travel any where for site seeing, but they travel only to pilgrims. So it’s very hard to find an Indian who travelled all over India. Our people don’t like to travel once they grew older. Our people don’t like to travel once they got married and have few children. Our people don’t dare to travel till at the age of 15. We couldn’t make time to travel when we are as students. We couldn’t make time to travel when we are working in some company. So for an Indian, he won’t really get an opportunity sorry sorry...., we won’t really like to make opportunity to travel.
But I am able to travel or visit almost 10 states of America in 2 years because; I don’t have any one here who really can restrict me just like my mom. I can travel 600 miles in 6hrs (If we forget the speed limit), or 8 hrs (If we are within the speed limit) so I can make a trip within a weekend. I am staying with friends, everyone like to travel. We are not really worried about money because trip costs very little amount. I don’t need to plan 2 weeks prior to travel. I can hire a car very easily. Every thing is convenient here.
If we seriously desired to travel across whole America, I think it may take 2 months to cover all the 50 states. But if we desire in India, It may take more than 2 months to cover all the states (less than 50 states). I know why our Indian tourism is lacking behind the funds now, because of bad transportation and bad roads. How can a foreigner dare to come to India if we have this bad transportation? Very few foreigners come to India and our Indians don’t like to or don’t have time to travel; therefore our tourism is still behind the screen. I don’t think we can drive 120 KMPH speed continuously for an hour in our Indian roads. Though roads are fine, everyone scared about the pedestrians crossing the highways and animals come on to the highways.
If I go on speaking about our Indian roads, and our Indian traffic system that is going to be one more issue. Let me discuss it some other time. At the end I came up with the reason behind our not having travelling. But Still I have no Idea how to create interest in our Indians. May be it is difficult right...!! What do you guys think of it..??
(This content is just as per my knowledge. I spoke about common Indian man i.e. a typical middle class Indian. Because I believe more than 50% of Indian families are middle class. I always speak about my mom if I write any entry like this. I don’t mean to criticize my mom or hurt my mom. I don’t want to show that my mom is wrong or something. She is typical Indian mom. I hope everyone’s mom is like my mom. I just took an example of my mom to make the things little clear. Mom I really love you. I may do the same thing if I am in your position. So don’t take it serious. You may be right in your situation. I can understand you well. I know you well. Love you so much mom. Excuse me if I hurt any of your feelings.
